About us and our journey
TCG was formed in 2017 by Howard Salinger. Known for his extensive travel industry network, he wanted to create a company where people across the industry could connect with media through events..
As the Covid pandemic hit in 2020, TCG moved all operations into managing online events. We launched the Social with Media programme, which expanded over 4 years to include a popular monthly webinar (Zoom In) and quarterly networking events in London (Zoom Out).
In 2024, SWM became the Travel PR Association, a place where travel PRs and travel media could connect throughout the year, including 4 times a year at Zoom Out. The TPRA also produces a podcast, Embargo, aimed at assisting travel PRs with professional development, delivered in a fun, informative manner.
Outside of the TPRA, we also manage 2 big events each year.
Media Getaway – a travel industry networking event deliberately hosted outside London, bringing travel companies from all over the world together with travel media from across the UK & Ireland, was first launched in Manchester, in 2022. The event then went to Leeds in 2023, Glasgow in 2024, Chester in 2025 and we’re looking forward to bringing the event to North East England in June 2026.
Our other big event of the year is TravYule – a travel industry Christmas party, where we hand out The Baubles, 13 awards given to deserving recipients in specific categories. Always held at the end of November, so we can start the festive season with a bang.
