

An annual event outside London, bringing together travel media from across the UK & Ireland, with PR representatives of travel brands from all over the world.
In 2026, we are taking the event to the North East of England, where the event will be hosted in Newcastle
Following a successful event in Chester, in July 2025, we’re looking forward to a great couple of days in Newcastle in June 2026!

Hosted by Destination North East England, alongside Newcastle International Airport, and centred in Newcastle, Media Getaway 2026 will give PR representatives of global travel brands the chance to get away with UK & Irish travel media for a 3-day event, with plenty of ways to meet through formal and informal networking opportunities.
The event will see media attending from all over Europe, particularly from all parts of the UK & Ireland, including people not usually encountered at London events.

About North East England

North East England is a region of striking contrasts and rich experiences. One day, you can be soaking up the culture, cuisine, and energy of vibrant cities like Newcastle or Durham; the next, you’re strolling along a secluded beach in Northumberland or exploring the ramparts of a dramatic coastal castle like Bamburgh.
We’re also the backdrop to many a blockbuster movie with Lindisfarne providing the setting for Danny Boyle’s latest epic thriller, 28 Years Later and Durham Cathedral and Alnwick Castle used in several of the Harry Potter movies.



The Event
The event will commence on Monday, 15th June 2026, with a welcome reception at Tyneside Cinema, hosted by Destination North East England and its partners, followed by a networking event hosted by Meet Boston at Fire, the cool bar at the brand new 5* Hotel Gotham.
On 16th June, all delegates will participate in the CONNECTION ZONE, a media marketplace where travel companies sit at tables and host a series of 1-1 meetings with attending media. These meetings are set up through a dedicated virtual platform created for the event. This part of the event will take place at the home of Newcastle United, the iconic St. James’s Park.
This will be followed by a spectacular closing reception at Kynren
On 17th June, media will enjoy trips around North East England, hosted by some local companies. Some of these tours will also take place on Monday 15th and may be available for all attendees, if space is available.

Who will be there?
Travel media from across the UK & Ireland and PR representatives from all over the world.
Many of our attendees don’t attend events in London so there are plenty of connections to be made.
How much does it cost?
Each PR representative pays a delegate fee, which covers attendance, food and some beverages at the event. The fee also covers the costs of accommodation for attending media, ensuring more journalists are able to attend.
We agree a special rate at our partner hotels for anyone attending from outside the area.
Any media wishing to stay overnight must agree to these terms and conditions, which includes information of cancellation fees. We ask that you read the document thoroughly before registering to attend. All other costs for the event are covered (apart from your travel to Newcaslte)
